Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC)

Overview

GRC (Glass Reinforced Concrete) or GFRC (Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete) can be installed as a rainscreen with structural aluminium secondary support, or integrated into a prefabricated modular unitised panel with integral RAB backpans and insulation.

GRC is a composite material made up of various binders, aggregates, glass fibre and admixtures. It has a low water permeability, is tougher than standard concrete but lighter, and has a high fire performance classification due to its inorganic and non-combustible basic composition.

GRC can be molded into complex shapes, with the addition of surface detail, finish and colour it offers a very wide range of design possibilities. Besides cladding and facades GRC is also used for street furniture, architectural elements, benchtops, planters, sinks and stair treads.

Thermosash engineers aluminium structural support solutions for GRC cladding and delivers engineered cladding solutions which utilise integrated prefabricated modular unitised panels.

Thermosash can source GRC that is responsibly produced offering sustainable low maintenance products with low embodied carbon and suitability for recycling.
