Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete Rainscreen

Product Description

Glass fibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) is a material composite made of cement slurry reinforced with alkali-resistant glass fibres. It is moldable and can be formed into complex shapes and forms.

GRC offers a lightweight alternative to precast concrete with a high tensile strength, providing a durable, fire-resistant, weather resistant option for rainscreen, unitised curtainwall solutions and architectural feature elements.

ENCLAD™ is Thermosash’s proprietary range of bracket profiles engineered specifically to support various types of rainscreen cladding. We have expert in-house teams working to ensure the design, engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation of our solutions deliver on custom specific project requirements and site-unique constraints.

Recommended ENCLAD™ support systems for GRC rainscreen:

  • Hook On Secret Fixed - EN06

Engineering Custom solutions

Thermosash design and detail the facade solution to meet project demand for seismic risk, wind loads, climate zones, corrosion zones and building importance levels as well as aesthetics, unique site constraints and budgetary requirements. We have extensive experience in integrating our systems and products to deliver a total facade solution.

Unitised pre-fabrication

Our systems are prefabricated and glazed at our manufacturing facilities (Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch) and can be transported for just-in-time site delivery. Due to prefabrication and the unitised modular design of our products and systems our highly skilled installation teams can close in buildings rapidly saving on programme time and mitigate follow on trade risk.

Maintenance

A full maintenance manual is provided on completion of a project for all the elements integrated within a project. Compliance to a maintenance schedule is essential to maintaining the quality of the installed product over time. Using Thermosash-approved facade maintenance contractor/personnel ensures the highest standards are met.

Warranty

We provide a materials manufacturer/supplier warranty of 10 years for the ENCLAD™ Support System.

Specification

We recommend using Masterspec 4216IR RAINSCREEN CLADDING SUPPORT SYSTEM when specifying this system type.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be installed by an approved Thermosash Group Installer.
  • We require the Timber/support structure (dwangs and structural nogs) to be positioned to suit our panel set-out for fixing purposes free of charge. This structure must be adequate for the standard fixings/loadings that will be imposed upon it by our products.

DESIGN REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be engineered, designed and supplied by Thermosash Group approved contractors.
  • We have engineered our product to maximum panel deflections of 1/60 for visible cladding under SLS loading, which equates to NZS 4223.
  • The critical weathering line relies on the design and integrity of the Rigid Air Barrier (RAB) with fully sealed joints installed by others.
