The Wellington Regional Children's Hospital was completed in early 2022, and officially handed over to the Capital & Coast District Health Board on March 31 following generous donations by philanthropists Mark Dunajtschik and Dorothy Spotswood.
In 2009 Thermosash undertook the total clad for The BNZ Harbour Quay project, however the building structure was irreparably damaged in the Kaikoura earthquake in 2016 – The Thermosash Unitised facade however was salvageable. It was removed from the damaged structure and gifted to the Wellington Children’s Hospital project. The upcycled PW1000 Unitised High Performance Curtainwall was reinstalled as part of the scope along with integrated solar shading and aluminium sheet rainscreen cladding, including the connecting footbridge.
The frit pattern on the Keramo Glass curtainwall panels has been designed with small images specifically for the amusement of the children. The brightly coloured glass fins adds to the child friendly environment.
