149 Featherston Street

149 Featherston Str, Brandon House, was fully stripped back to its concrete structure and an additional three levels were added in timber construction, allowing for penthouse office accommodation with views to the Wellington harbour, taking the whole building to 11 storeys. The new bronzed curtainwall, Thermosash PW1000 Unitised flush glazed, wraps around the building like a skin, creating a smooth glass vertical facade. The curved corners provide a contemporary sculptured effect to the office tower.

The approach to the refurbishment of the building facilitated halving the embodied carbon compared to a new low-carbon alternative build.

Brandon House by Studio Pacific Architecture won the Commercial Architecture award in the 2022 Wellington Architecture Awards.
