Commercial Bay Tower

Project Overview

On the 6th December 2019 at 12.30pm, Thermosash installed the last panel on the Commercial Bay tower project. After over 2 years in manufacture and installation, the significance of the 3183rd panel being installed after a competitive international tender was a moment celebrated by our entire Thermosash Group (Thermosash Commercial, Woods Glass and Insite Facades).

Thermosash installed our PW1000 suite with integrated ACP / stainless steel abseiler brackets / signage brackets and integrated louvres. We manufacture our bespoke metal folding and pressings to meet project design requirements. Also included are glass balustrades, channel glazing with glass fins and spider fittings for the lift enclosure as well as a revolving door.

One of the challenges that was overcome was the programme being behind for almost 1 year, due to CRL tunnelling under the site, as well as the Covid-19 shutdown. Despite this Thermosash was able to achieve the opening date set by the Client once the nationwide shutdown had ended by increasing labour rescources, shifts, and finding solutions to speed up installation without compromising on health and safety.

Commercial Bay is New Zealand's tallest commercial structure. The building achieved a 5 Green Star Office Built, and Office Design rating.
